Singapore Airlines skrev:Baggage allowance for journeys involving multiple airlines
Journeys to and from the United States
‘Marketing Carrier’ refers to the airline that sells the ticket for a flight. It may or may not be the one to operate that flight. The 'Most Significant Marketing Carrier' is generally defined as the airline whose airline code is represented in the ticket for the geographically longest or most significant stretch of the journey.
For journeys to and from the US, the first marketing carrier will determine the baggage policies for the entire journey. The first marketing carrier may choose to apply the baggage policies of the Most Significant Marketing Carrier or apply its own baggage policies for the journey.
Example:
Washington –[XX] – San Francisco – [SQ] – Hong Kong – [YY] – Singapore
In this example, Airline XX is the first marketing carrier whereas Singapore Airlines is the Most Significant Marketing Carrier. Being the first marketing carrier, Airline XX can choose to apply its own baggage policy or to apply the policy of the Most Significant Marketing Carrier. The policy that is chosen will apply to the entire journey.
Journeys where the origin or destination is not in the United States
‘Operating Carrier’ refers to the airline that operates the flight. It may or may not be the airline that sells the ticket for that flight. The ‘Most Significant Operating Carrier’ is generally defined as the airline which operates the geographically longest or most significant stretch of the sectors.
For journeys where the origin or destination is not in the US, the baggage allowance policies of the Most Significant Operating Carrier will apply for sector(s) between stopovers. If there is no stopover, the policy of the Most Significant Operating Carrier applies for the entire journey.
For the avoidance of doubt, please refer to your ticket to check the applicable free baggage allowance of each sector.
Example 1:
Singapore – [SQ] – Bangkok (stopover) – [AA] – Copenhagen (non-stopover) – [BB] – Stockholm
In this example, the journey is broken up by a stopover in Bangkok. Therefore, there are two sectors and each sector has a Most Significant Operating Carrier.
From Singapore to Bangkok, Singapore Airlines is the Most Significant Operating Carrier and the baggage policies of Singapore Airlines will apply to this sector.
From Bangkok to Stockholm, Airline AA is the Most Significant Operating Carrier as it operates the geographically-longer stretch from Bangkok to Copenhagen. The baggage policy of Airline AA will apply to the entire sector from Bangkok to Stockholm.
Example 2:
Canberra – [PP] – Brisbane (non-stopover) – [QQ] - Singapore (non-stopover) – [SQ] - London
In this example, there is one Most Significant Operating Carrier because there are no stopovers in the journey. Singapore Airlines is the Most Significant Operating Carrier as it is operating the geographically longer stretch from Singapore to London. Therefore, the baggage policies of Singapore Airlines will apply from Canberra to London.
