Defying expectations, K at Kulm Hotel St. Moritz was awarded its first Michelin star a mere six weeks after welcoming its inaugural guests, setting a new benchmark for rapid critical acclaim in haute cuisine.
This extraordinary achievement is a testament to the vision of Chef Mauro Colagreco, revered for his three-Michelin-starred Mirazur in the French Riviera, which has repeatedly been named among the world’s top restaurants since 2019.
Debuting on December 22, 2020, K at Kulm Hotel St. Moritz operates exclusively for dinner Tuesday through Saturday during the winter season, offering an intimate and meticulously curated gastronomic experience. The restaurant’s seasonal schedule aligns with St. Moritz’s celebrated winter calendar, with final seatings each March before the spring thaw.
Upon bestowing its star, the Michelin Guide praised the restaurant, stating: “Although this refined dining room within the iconic Kulm Hotel St. Moritz is open only during winter, it showcases the inventive, harmonious, and ever-surprising cuisine of Argentinian culinary maestro Mauro Colagreco, internationally acclaimed for his three-star Mirazur in Menton.”
Chef Colagreco, of Italian-Argentinian heritage, honed his craft under luminaries such as Bernard Loiseau, Alain Ducasse, and Guy Martin—an elite pedigree reflected in every plate. His culinary philosophy emphasizes the purity of seasonal ingredients, vibrant presentation, and authentic flavor profiles. Signature elements include the celebrated lemon-accented anchovy, which delivers a symphony of taste and texture, and the renowned “luxus beta vulgaris”—salt-roasted beetroot paired with Oscietra caviar cream, a dish that exemplifies his creative mastery.
Established in 1856, Kulm Hotel St. Moritz stands as a pillar of Swiss luxury hospitality, boasting 164 rooms and suites, five distinguished restaurants (including K by Mauro Colagreco), and the award-winning Kulm Spa St. Moritz. During the peak winter months, the hotel is the epicenter of elegance in this legendary Alpine resort. In summer, St. Moritz transforms into a sanctuary for artists, outdoor enthusiasts, and those seeking refined cultural experiences.
St. Moritz sits approximately 200 kilometers from Zurich and 175 kilometers from Milan, accessible by scenic road journeys, efficient train connections, or private helicopter transfers—ensuring seamless arrival for discerning travelers year-round.
