Champagnedrama - fortsat. Jeg fik det samma skamfulde svar fra alle 3 forskellige chief-pursers på alle 3 flights NBO-DOH-BKK-SGN: der er ingen champagne på economy undtagen på alle direkte europæiske ruter (til og fra Doha) og ruten til Melbourne. Ifølge staff er der ikke tale om Jacquart’s Brut Mosaique, men en anden champagne af absolut god qualitet (pris 19 euro i supermarked mod de billigste der går for 6-14 euro). Jeg rejser med Qatar til CPH paa fredag, saa må vi se. Jeg vender frygteligt tilbage. Jeg så skammen i deres øjne....

NBO-DOH-BKK-SGN. 1st leg on small A320. Good check in service in Nairobi. Sent me SMS to confirm on line check-in. Could request almost any seat despite the plane was 85% full. Took them 1 hour and half before the first drink arrived – and this only after food was served (at that time). No information on menu prior to the trolley arrived. As usual the food menu on screen “has no information for this flight”. That goes apparently for ALL QR-flights. Eventually given two options of hot food. They ran out of chicken but mutton appeared to be a good choice. Despite widely announced by Qatar Airways since Nov. 2012, there is still no champagne served in economy class (FA said it is only on European routes). Wine quality gets lower and cannot match the food any more. No beer served apart from Heineken. Entertainment included new films. Poor announcements by pilots. DOHA airport the usual nightmare and as many feared the official opening is postponed to deep, deep into 2013 (2014?). Airport and transit passengers suffer terribly from lengthy busdrives depriving passengers from prime time in the airport and its lounges which otherwise are OK. The worst with the busses is that you are locked up inside without any attempt from anybody to let you out, and standstills at 10-15 minutes happen on those marathon drives. Miles credited within 30 Minutes after disembarking the flight. All flights on time. 2nd leg on large Boeing 777-300ER. Aircraft full. No dinner served. Only hot sandwich and later breakfast (same 2 options now for years, no innovation). No champagne despite widely announced by CEO of Qatar. Was told by chief purser on all stretches that “not yet on other sectors than Europe and Melbourne” Wines of low quality but options. IFE OK. Seats reasonably comfortable even in the most crowded areas.

Ja, Stefan, det er economy! Economy only.....Mine seneste points fra ovennaevnte tur er netop gaaet ind paa min konto og jeg er nu QR guldmedlem naar jeg rejser til CPH fra HAN i overmorgen. Hvis der er nogen i Doha paa fredag kan jeg invitere i Qryx Lounge fra om morgenen klokken ca. 6. Jeg har 6 invitation cards som skal bruges inden nytaar

Jeg er stadig i Oryx lounge her i Doha til efter midnat. Masser af tid. Har endnu ikke moedt nogen af jer.
Champagne med Qatar er igen bekraeftet at det findes kun paa economy til europæiske ruter (og til/fra Melbourne). Mærket er nu ændret til Lanson, og der bydes på 1 enkelt glas. Da jeg rejser til CPH i nat skal jeg checke det grundigt for jer....

Så lykkedes det endelig fra Doha til CPH at få champagne i economy: Selv om klokken var 02:30 var det tid for champagne. Desværre var mærket ikke Lanson men Jacquart Brut Mosaique, se foto
Ud over dokumentation for champagnen er der billeder fra flyet Hanoi-Doha (economy - exit row) Boeing 777-300. Loungen i Hanoi og (Silver) lounge i Doha. Oryx, som er deres gold lounge er en tak bedre. Som gold member må man altid gæste 1 (plus hvad man har af "lounge credits"). Jeg mødte danske Katrine, som accompagnerede mig videre i flyet til Doha. Man kan nu finde menu og drikkevarer på flyets IFE. Her er vist en del af menuen tilbage fra CPH til Doha med QR098 (husk at angive nullet ved numre under 100!) som jeg flyver hjem med næste uge. God jul!

As gold card holder allowed a guest with me to the SASCO-lounge in Hanoi. No dinner or lunch served during the first 2 legs, only sandwiches and breakfast. On request they accepted to give me the breakfast upon night departure to allow me to sleep prior to landing in Doha. DOH-CPH on Airbus. Champagne served upon request. FA staff cooperative and service minded. Full flight. CPH-DOH: fast and caring check in, advised on seating. Provided lounge access at NOVIA lounge in Copenhagen. On board flight was well serviced by FAs. Quick FA responses on button calls or through direct inquiries. Here, champagne was served quite frequently. Excellent seating options provided at check in and given priority at security checks (likely influenced by gold card status at their Privilege Club FFP program). Lounge access provided throughout except during the short (but dreadful!) stop over in Bangkok, where one is not allowed to leave the aircraft while it is re-staffed and being cleaned by dozens of disturbing cleaners. Q-Miles quickly credited.

Jag kan tala om hur det ligger till med champagnen på Qatar i ekonomiklass: den serveras konstigt nog enbart på sträckor till/från Europa och Doha, inte bortåt Asien. Men, det går däremot att få nästan obegränsat med bubbel där det serveras, mycket trevligt.
Det är också trevligt att vara silver och guldmedlem i deras Privilege Club; chefsstewarden kommer och presenterar sig när man satt sig, man blir tilltalad med namn, de ger en tidningar och man får sedan maten först och allmänt mer uppmärksamhet än de som sitter omkring.
