Rumors are that a visitor to the cockpit inadvertently pressed the captains seat switch, on the top of the back rest, and caused to seat to move forward, while the captain was sitting crossleged. His leg pressed the control column and caused the autopilot to disconnect and the nose to dip. It took some time to move back, and gain contol. Only a rumor still, but can explain the event.

Enl The Aircurrent och Jon Ostrower så ska det hela berott på en ofrivillg rörelse av den ena pilotstolen!? Detta gjorde att stolen gled framåt och att styrspaken då trycktes framåt och planet dök rakt ner!? Otroligt märkligt men det är vad dom skriver som orsak.
Tydligen kan man styra stolen med knappar på ryggstödet och på sidan av stolen ( för att kunna flytta stolen så man kommer in i sätet och sen styr man från knapparna på sidan) och på något sätt har stolen kommit i rörelse framt mitt under flygning. Det ska tydligen gått ut information till alla flygbolag om detta och det har visst hänt innan också men utan några biverkningar.
