We now see a world of journalists and politicians asking for game changing rules in European aviation. Changing the way aviatiors operates, due to an accident which killed 150 people. It seems that you need an accident, to get reactions. To make changes. When we see how quickly the table can turn, how the lightning can strike from a clear blue day and make for a horrible disaster - it would be nice to put the rather cocky attitude in perspective, regarding politicians, the media and others who blatantly claim "type of employment has nothing to do with safety". When things can happen without a warning, why are we turning the deaf ear on the pilots who fly every single day and warn us? They say that a tendency in aviation today can contribute to reduced safety. And research to prove it. We never got a warning in the Germanwings case, and probably never would if it turns out the pilot snapped and went haywire. Accidents like these are horrendous and can probably never be fully understood. They can never be predicted, or stopped. But in many other cases, such as the one with atypical employment (as well as others, such as the fact that taxfree liquor increase the risk of serious burn damage if you have an airplane accident with a fire), we actually have the LUXURY of getting a warning before an accident. But even if we get a warning signal: we have someone holding a flag saying "watch out" - and this someone is actually really competent and works with the matter on an everyday basis...... It seems people won't listen to that. It seems like they only listen to actual accidents, as we see today when there are several people wanting new legislations regarding the number of people in the cockpit.
See what I mean. Perspective. Not causality. Just a perspective: the absurdity of aviation.
