First upgraded B777-200ER aircraft launched to Amsterdam
13 January 2013 – The first of Singapore Airlines’ refitted Boeing 777-200ER aircraft flew from Singapore to Amsterdam today, drawing a warm reception from customers. At an arrival welcome event held at Amsterdam’s Schiphol Airport on 14 Jan, trade press corporate customers and agents alike gave a thumbs-up to the refitted cabin products.
In Business Class, the richly upholstered leather seat reclines up to 125 degrees and unfolds into a 76-inch full-flat bed, providing greater space and comfort. Also featured on the Airline’s Airbus A340-500, A380-800 and B777-300ER fleets, the forward-facing, four-abreast 1-2-1 configuration offers all customers direct access to the aisle. The award-winning KrisWorld in-flight entertainment system features a 15.4-inch LCD monitor and an extensive selection of audio and video programmes.
In Economy Class, personal LCD monitors have also been upgraded to 9 inches from 6.5 inches. Seat covers, designed by Givenchy, are featured in soothing colours as well as richer and softer fabrics, similar to those found on Singapore Airlines’ A380s and B777-300ERs.
To be extended to a further nine B777-200ER aircraft, the cost of this cabin upgrade programme is valued at nearly SGD$95 million.
Upgraded B777-200ERs will be deployed to more destinations in Europe and to points in India, South Africa, Australia and New Zealand as additional aircraft are refitted.
