Och ja jag hade fel, SAS gick inte i konkurs före nyår. Ändå säkra före det osäkra att ha poängen antingen spenderade eller uppbokade.

Sista ordet är inte sagt. SAS AB i Sverige ska igenom en rekonstruktion också. Kan bli krångligt.

Har Saab gått i konkurs?

Mig veterligen bygger de fortfarande flygplan, vapen, övervakning, kamouflage, ubåtar, navigeringssystem mm.

En vild gissning är att det är SAAB Automobile AB som åsyftas iom att SAAB AB inte gått i konkurs.

For comparison purposes, I’ve seen partners at the top firms in NYC bill their own work at almost up to $2500 per hour but I’ve never seen a partner at any of the top 4 Swedish firms bill more than 10000 SEK per hour.



The best big city US law firms in NYC, DC, San Francisco just charge in a completely different league than what is to be seen in Copenhagen, Oslo and Stockholm. The work that we would see be charged at around 6000-8000 SEK/hour by partners and similar-level specialists at Vinge or MSA in Sweden would be 1.5-3 times that at comparable level of seniority/specialty at a DC or NYC office of a firm at a comparable level on the league tables. And the revolving door between government service and private sector practice is very lucrative in the US in a way that has no comparison in Scandinavia. Take Neal Katyal as an example, and there even bankruptcy court judges didn’t like what he was billing at Hogan.

Or just supply & demand paired with high competency in both the public and private sector (which isn’t something you can say of the EU public sector). Nothing to be ashamed of. You get what you pay for, cf. UK vs EU in their deals with Astra Zeneca for the Covid vaccine.

As indicated there, a bankruptcy trustee can reject the use of counsel that is too expensive. I haven’t heard about the bankruptcy trustee in the SAS matter rejecting counsel over being too expensive, but they are paying big bucks relatively speaking on the US side and on the European sides. But it’s the US side that is much more expensive. And the lawyers on both sides have become more expensive in 2023 than in 2022.



If I were footing the legal bill for this, I would not be a happy camper because I know how clients get stuck with a bill for stupid lawyer stuff too. But going downmarket can be costly in other ways too.
