The tallest 5-star hotels in Europe

If you like a room with a view, there’s no need to travel to China or Dubai. While the majority of the world’s tallest hotels are found across Asia and the Middle East, Europe has its share of sky-high hotels.  

In fact, the following six 5-star European hotels are more than sufficient to provide guests with unique and unadulterated views of the historic cities they tower over. Please bear in mind, however, rooms at these hotels are not for the faint of heart!

1. Radisson Royal Hotel, Moscow 198 metres

Located on the banks of the Moskva River, the Radisson Royal Hotel, Moscow is the tallest 5-star hotel in Europe at 198 metres. Still retaining its historic name of Hotel Ukraina, the building dates from 1957 and was the tallest hotel in the world until the Westin Peachtree Plaza Hotel opened in Atlanta, Georgia, in the US in 1976.

2. Shangri La Hotel At The Shard London 190 metres

The Shangri-La Hotel at The Shard, London occupies floors 34-52 of the 95-storey skyscraper in Southwark, London. This gives guests of this five-star luxury hotel access to stunning views of the capital and beyond.

3. InterContinental Warsaw 164 metres

In Poland stands the InterContinental Warsaw hotel at a whopping 164 meters, with a box looking sylinder form

When it opened in November 2003, the InterContinental Warsaw is the tallest hotel in Poland and the third-tallest in Europe. It features  414 spacious and well-appointed rooms and suites, all of which offer a magnificent panorama of Warsaw.

4. Swissotel Krasnye Holmy, Moscow 162 metres

The swissotel Krasnye Holmy in Moscow stands at a whopping 162 meters and was the tallest building in Moscow in 2005 with a location next to the water.

34 stories high, the Swissotel Krasnye Holmy was the tallest building in Moscow at the time of its completion in 2005. Located on the eastern tip of the Kremlin Island, the hotel today offers exceptional service and luxury, as well as a wonderful restaurant with one of the best views of Moscow’s city centre.

5. Hotel Arts Barcelona, 154 metres
