Goldeneye, Jamaica

Goldeneye, Jamaica - 9/10

Bond actors: Sean Connery, Sir Roger Moore, George Lazenby, Timothy Dalton, Pierce Brosnan and Daniel Craig (not forgetting Barry Nelson and David Niven)

Great quote - from the novel Casino Royale:

“A dry martini,' Bond said. 'One. In a deep champagne goblet.' ... Just a moment. Three measures of Gordon's, one of vodka, half a measure of Kina Lillet. Shake it very well until it's ice-cold, then add a large thin slice of lemon-peel. Got it?”

GoldenEye was the name of the 1995 Bond film – that starred Pierce Brosnan as 007. However, the resort itself is intrinsic to every James Bond story. Located on the northeast coast of Jamaica between Snorkeler’s Cove and rustic Button Beach – GoldenEye was once the home of Ian Fleming - the renowned author of the James Bond novels.

It is now a luxury hotel designed by noted Jamaican architect Anne Hodges. Guests can choose from a selection of villas, cottages and beach huts all inspired to feel like a “home away from home”. Features include hardwood floors, high ceilings, oversized furniture, and cool white linens. Villas all have an outdoor shower, full kitchen and outdoor table for al fresco dining. The cottages are nestled in jungle garden foliage or lapped by the Lagoon, some with a private dock for easy kayaking.

GoldenEye, Jamaica - The Fleming Villa

Beach huts have an outdoor shower, high ceilings and louvred windows - allowing for the ultimate outdoor living experience. Choose poolside breakfast at Bizot which also serves pasta salads and burgers alongside Jamaican specialities, the barbecue is lit at Bamboo Bar where grilled fish is served straight from the Ocean, relaxed cocktails and drinks are served from a rooftop lounge down by the beach huts at Shabeen. Evening private dining is available by torchlight at the end of the peninsula. Treatments such as Warming Pimento and ginger massage, and Blue Mountain Coffee scrub including island inspired ingredients are available at the Field Spa Cottage.
