Waldorf Astoria New York teases 2025 opening with luxury condo announcement
The Waldorf Astoria New York, an icon of Park Avenue, is preparing for its highly anticipated reopening in 2025—though the exact date remains under wraps. The legendary property has introduced its exclusive residential collection, The Towers of the Waldorf Astoria, redefining luxury living in Manhattan.
Since its celebrated debut in 1931 as the tallest and largest hotel worldwide, the Waldorf Astoria has been synonymous with New York sophistication. Now, following an extensive restoration, the hotel will reopen with 375 guest rooms and suites, crowned by The Towers—an enclave of private residences atop the storied building.
The Towers offer an impressive selection of homes, ranging from refined studios to grand four-bedroom apartments and opulent penthouses that command the city skyline. Many signature residences feature sweeping terraces and private outdoor retreats. Each home is fitted with advanced soundproof windows, designed to honor the building’s original 1931 aesthetic while providing today’s superior comfort.
Residents at The Towers enjoy an elevated sense of discretion and peace of mind, with their own dedicated entrances and a 24-hour staffed lobby. An elegant porte cochère with soaring vaulted ceilings welcomes arrivals on East 50th Street, offering seamless valet service for the utmost privacy.
Six private elevators with state-of-the-art destination dispatch ensure swift, secure access to residences. A separate entrance connects residents directly to the Waldorf Astoria’s acclaimed restaurants, bars, and spa facilities. With one of the highest staff-to-resident ratios among New York’s luxury towers, residents benefit from a full-time concierge team and white-glove service throughout the property.
A standout amenity is the innovative concierge closet, ingeniously incorporated into every residence’s entryway. This feature allows for discreet deliveries of packages, laundry, and in-home dining, accessible both from the hallway and inside each home for total convenience and privacy.
The Towers’ residents have access to over 50,000 square feet of exclusive amenities, meticulously curated by Jean-Louis Deniot. Wellness and leisure offerings include a spectacular 25-meter Starlight Pool set beneath a restored skylight, a lush Winter Garden, and the Starlight Lounge with terrace views over Park Avenue. The fitness suite boasts the latest equipment, training rooms, and a cardio gallery overlooking the pool. Private spa facilities offer serene lounges, steam rooms, saunas, and treatment suites. Residents can host gatherings in a variety of sophisticated spaces: the elegant Grand Salon with catering kitchen, the Chrysler Room with panoramic city views, the Cue Club for billiards, and the Monte Carlo Gaming Room. Other amenities include the Presidential Library and Bar, curated in partnership with the White House Historical Association, a children’s playroom, the Stage & Screen Theater with live performance capabilities, and The Empire Club—an executive lounge designed for business and social occasions.
Inside the hotel, Pierre-Yves Rochon has masterfully blended contemporary luxury with the Waldorf’s timeless Art Deco heritage, creating interiors that exude both elegance and warmth.
Specialist artisans and preservationists have painstakingly restored the hotel’s most celebrated artifacts, including the iconic Spirit of Achievement sculpture, the historic 1893 World’s Fair Clock, and Cole Porter’s legendary Steinway grand piano. These treasures will once again grace the Waldorf Astoria’s public spaces, maintaining a tangible connection to its illustrious past.
The reimagined hotel will offer 375 rooms and suites, a significant reduction from its original capacity of over 1,700, ensuring an even more personalized guest experience.
Today, Waldorf Astoria operates 32 luxury hotels and resorts worldwide, from the Maldives and London to Cancun and Edinburgh, continuing its legacy of refined hospitality across the globe.
