Shinta Mani Hotels opens Nepalese boutique hotel

Shinta Mani Mustang – A Bensley Collection, Nepal, welcomes discerning travelers to its exclusive sanctuary in the Himalayas, having opened in March 2023. This 29-suite, all-inclusive mountain retreat marks Shinta Mani Hotels’ first foray beyond Cambodia, setting a new standard for luxury hospitality in Nepal.

Nestled in the storied Mustang region—often referred to as ‘The Forbidden Kingdom’ and serving as a historic passage to Tibet—the lodge is surrounded by breathtaking vistas. Snow-dusted peaks, including the awe-inspiring Mount Nilgiri, and centuries-old Buddhist monasteries provide a dramatic backdrop for immersive, tailor-made cultural adventures.

Each suite, spanning 45 square meters (2,484 square feet), is thoughtfully designed to echo the warmth and authenticity of traditional Tibetan dwellings. Open-concept layouts blend plush sleeping and living spaces, complemented by elegant bathrooms. Expansive floor-to-ceiling windows frame panoramic Himalayan views, while curated furnishings in earthy hues reflect the region’s natural palette.

Gastronomy at Shinta Mani Mustang is a celebration of Nepalese heritage and global flair. The 60-seat Nilgiri Restaurant, alongside a sweeping outdoor terrace, serves contemporary Nepalese and Western dishes crafted from locally sourced and foraged ingredients. The Aara Bar pays homage to its namesake—a time-honored Tibetan and Sherpa spirit—offering signature cocktails in a stylish setting.

The Wellness Centre features two serene treatment suites, each equipped with a plunge pool, steam room, sauna, rainfall shower, and massage beds, all oriented towards mesmerizing mountain scenery. A resident eleventh-generation Amchi Doctor leads authentic Tibetan healing sessions, incorporating centuries-old herbal therapies. An adaptable studio hosts meetings, yoga, and fitness classes, ensuring holistic well-being for guests.

Adventure is at the heart of the Shinta Mani Mustang experience. Expert Bensley Adventure Guides curate daily excursions over two weeks, including guided treks on secluded trails, rock climbing, horseback expeditions, cycling, archery, and scenic helicopter rides. Each itinerary is crafted to deliver both thrill and discovery, tailored to individual preferences.

Visionary architect Bill Bensley, co-owner and creative director, infuses the property with vibrant textiles and repurposed materials, resulting in one-of-a-kind furnishings. The lodge’s interiors are adorned with works by the late artist Robert Powell, while the outdoor terrace invites guests to unwind beside grand fire pits beneath a canopy of Himalayan stars.

Travelers may access Shinta Mani Mustang via direct flights to Kathmandu, with onward connections through Pokhara to Jomsom—the nearest regional airport—followed by a scenic drive to the lodge.
