Kempinski takes over from Ritz-Carlton in Cancun

Following last week's announcement by Marriott that after 25 years Ritz-Carlton would no longer manage one of Cancun's most iconic hotels, Kempinski has been confirmed as its new operator.

From September, Europe’s oldest luxury hotel group will take over the reins and by the end of year, the Kempinski Hotel Cancun will fully be the newest five-star addition to the portfolio.

Occupying 400-metres on one of the finest beaches in Mexico - Playa del Carmen - the hotel offers 315 guestrooms and 48 suites. They all feature private balconies or terraces with a panoramic view of the Caribbean Sea. The hotel also has eight dining options, club lounge, two swimming pools, fitness centre, kid's club and spa.

“Cancun is a top vacation destination for guests from The Americas, who also make up a good proportion of our guests in the rest of the world as well as for Europeans." says Bernold Schroeder, CEO of Kempinski Group.

Created in 1897, Kempinski Group operates 80 hotels and residences in 34 countries and currently has more than 26 prestigious projects under development around the globe.
