Amanzoe - the real star of Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery

During the festive season, Netflix audiences worldwide were captivated by Daniel Craig's return in the acclaimed whodunit, Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery, propelling it to the top of the platform’s global charts.

While the film’s narrative unfolds on a fictional Greek isle, cinephiles and luxury travelers alike may recognize the breathtaking filming location: the extraordinary Amanzoe, a crown jewel of Aman Hotels & Resorts.

Nestled atop a tranquil hill with sweeping vistas over the Peloponnese, Amanzoe’s architectural elegance blends classical Greek inspiration with contemporary minimalism. The estate spans 96 hectares, dotted with ancient olive trees, flourishing vineyards, and stately cypresses. Discerning guests are welcomed into 52 impeccably appointed pavilions and expansive villas, each boasting private pools and uninterrupted panoramas of the verdant countryside or the sparkling Aegean Sea.

The resort’s culinary program is exceptional, featuring six distinct venues. Highlights include The Amphitheatre, renowned for its curated Greek tasting menus; The Restaurant, serving refined Mediterranean fare; and Nama, which has garnered acclaim for sophisticated Japanese dining. The central 25-meter pool serves as the resort’s social hub, while the exclusive Beach Club—just a short drive away—offers elegant dining, two lap pools, two children’s pools, a boutique, a spa suite, a gym, and complimentary non-motorized water sports.

Wellness is at the heart of Amanzoe’s philosophy. The 2,850-square-meter Spa, one of the most comprehensive in Greece, integrates ancient Hellenic rituals with Asian healing traditions. Facilities include six treatment rooms (some with private steam rooms), a Watsu pool, a Thai massage suite, a full-service hair salon, and a finishing studio. Additional amenities encompass hammams, saunas, cold plunge pools, a fully equipped gym, Pilates and yoga studios, floodlit tennis courts, a two-story marble library housing over 1,000 volumes, a dedicated youth center, and a curated boutique.

Much of Glass Onion was filmed on-site at Amanzoe, allowing viewers to appreciate the resort’s sublime design and tranquil setting. The nearby island of Spetses, renowned for its cosmopolitan charm, also features prominently in the film and is easily accessible by yacht from Amanzoe’s private jetty.

Starring alongside Daniel Craig are celebrated actors Edward Norton and Kate Hudson. Glass Onion follows the original Knives Out, which achieved global acclaim in 2019.

Daniel Craig, famed for his tenure as James Bond, has graced many of the world’s most exclusive hotels on screen, including The Ocean Club, A Four Seasons Resort in the Bahamas, memorably featured in Casino Royale.
