Waldorf Astoria Bangkok, designed by acclaimed HK architect André Fu, enjoys a prime location in the heart of downtown, close to the Bangkok elevated train system for scooting around the city. The 60-story building’s organic, architecture of the façade is echoed within with influences ranging from Thai dancing and Thai lace to the original New York Waldorf Astoria’s Art Deco references. There are 171 classically modern rooms and suites with wide planked wooden floors; hand-tufted rugs; Thai accents; floor to ceiling windows allowing the light to flood through; digital tablets for controlling lighting and temperature and spacious granite topped bathrooms with dual vanities. Room sizes are amongst the most generous in the city with entry level Deluxe rooms offering 50 square metres of living space with luxury 400-thread count linens, designer throws and the signature Waldorf Astoria beds. Of the 35 suites, the residential-style Royal Suite is the largest at 300 square metres with an open plan format for the living area with dining area for up to eight people, a pantry and kitchen, screen room, bar and study alongside a master and guest suite.

For relaxing, swim in the 25-metre temperature controlled outdoor infinity pool on the 17th floor with its floating cabanas or work those muscles in the Fitness Centre, packed with TechnoGym equipment and offering stretching areas, a sauna, a steam room and an ice fountain. The Waldorf Astoria Spa is inspired by the magnolia flower and offers a range of tempting traditional and modern treatments. When hunger calls, there are six venues to appeal to every palate, ranging from the Bull & Bear specialising in grilled meats and seafood, the Front Room for authentic Thai cuisine, Peacock Alley overlooking the Royal Bangkok Sports Club for pastries, afternoon tea and snacks throughout the day and The Brasserie for signature French cuisine including Boeuf Bourguignon. There are two bars for quenching the thirst – The rooftop Champagne Bar for a coupe de champagne and The Loft, an Art Nouveau-styled New York inspired space serving vintage cocktails and gourmet bar bites.
