Schloss Elmau’s diverse restaurant collection spans the spectrum from gourmet tasting menus to authentic Asian and Mediterranean cuisine, ensuring a memorable meal for every palate.
The two Michelin-starred Luce d’Oro, located in The Hideaway, is a culinary destination in its own right—garnering 18 Gault Millau points. The sleek, contemporary space, accented by warm wood, sets the stage for chef Christoph Rainer’s French-Japanese tasting menus, which focus on pure flavors and innovative techniques. His team’s artistry is evident in the delicate interplay of three core ingredients and refined textures in every course.
Three Italian dining options—adults-only Summit, family-friendly Tutto Mondo, and inclusive Ganesha—offer a fresh take on Mediterranean classics. Under Executive Chef Sergio Merolla, guests rediscover Italian favorites like Vitello Tonnato and Lasagna, elevated with vibrant, contemporary flavors.
La Salle in The Hideaway presents international cuisine with a modern twist, featuring lavish buffets of salads, antipasti, desserts, and made-to-order mains. Fidelio, also in The Hideaway, is a dramatic vaulted space specializing in sushi and Asian fare, crafted by Culinary Director Anton Pozeg and Sushi Master Rex Corpuz. Signature highlights include the Sushi Chef Selection Royal—an exquisite platter for two or more.
Kaminstüberl is the quintessential alpine fondue retreat, with cozy alcoves, wood-panelled interiors, and open fireplaces. In summer, guests can dine al fresco on the courtyard terrace, soaking in the mountain air.
Ananda, the light-filled restaurant in the Badehaus Spa, is an adults-only haven for all-day dining—breakfast is served at your leisure, with the option to dine in your bathrobe on the sunny terrace.
Elmauer Alm, Schloss Elmau’s rustic mountain restaurant perched at 1,203 meters, rewards hikers with spectacular views across the Karwendel and Wetterstein ranges. Three scenic trails lead up to this alpine gem, with a cross-country ski route connecting from the main resort in winter.
The Tea Lounge at The Hideaway offers a stylish retreat with a living room, winter garden, and terrace—particularly enchanting by candlelight on summer evenings. Guests can relax fireside, surrounded by floor-to-ceiling windows and signature burnt orange décor, while savoring panoramic mountain views. What We Love
Schloss Elmau is committed to a philosophy of environmental stewardship, striving to balance guest comfort with a deep respect for its natural setting. The resort’s mission is to achieve full climate neutrality by 2035, setting a benchmark for sustainable luxury hospitality in the region.
Approximately 80% of heating needs are met through biomass energy—utilizing wood waste from local forests. To supplement this, an on-site combined heat and power plant uses natural gas, generating 50% of the property’s electricity. A private hydroelectric station, continuously operating for over a century, supplies an additional 15%. Any remaining demand is covered by certified green electricity from external providers. LED lighting is standard throughout, with halogen fixtures dimmed for ambiance while minimizing energy use. All organic waste is converted to electricity via the resort’s biogas facility, and glass and paper recycling programs are rigorously maintained.
Advanced, silent ventilation and cooling systems exclusively use fresh air, efficiently heated via energy recovery—avoiding energy-intensive conventional air conditioning entirely.
Pristine drinking water is sourced from the property’s private, mineral-rich spring. The culinary program prioritizes regional, organic meats, dairy, and trout sourced from local bio-farmers.
Guest amenities are crafted from natural ingredients and presented in reusable containers. Single-use plastics have been eliminated, with bamboo straws and glass bottles now standard. Laundry operations run on green energy and state-of-the-art technology to reduce chemical usage, ensuring a minimal environmental footprint throughout the guest journey.
