If you are looking for a discreet, private bolthole when visiting Rome rather than one of the larger grand dame properties, then take a closer look at J.K. Place, a luxury boutique property situated just a few moments’ walk from the Spanish steps.

Located in a 17th century building which once housed a school of architecture, JK Place offers just 27 rooms and suites, furnished with an impeccably chic mid-century orientated décor akin to a beautifully styled private home created by noted architect Michele Bonan with top of the range materials and a trained eye. For dining, there is the JK Café Bistrot serving market-fresh ingredients for Italian and international favourites and JKBar, ideal for afternoon tea, finger food and signature cocktails. The culinary team also offer cookery lessons and if heading out, a range of picnic options for food on the go.

This intimate property tailors every visit to suit an individual’s wishes, with e-bikes to whisk you around the city and private yoga, spa or fitness sessions in-room to private tours of the Coliseum or the Vatican Museums and exclusive entrance to sporting and theatrical events – all arranged by the knowledgeable, well-connected JK Concierge team.

Ideally located in the heart of the city, JK Place is close to all the major attractions that Rome has to offer. A few steps away from the Spanish Steps, Piazza Navona and the Pantheon, the property is also close to the upscale shopping areas of Via Condotti and Via del Corso whilst the Trevi Fountain and the Villa Borghese are around a quarter of an hour’s walk away. The Colisseum is about a 15-minute taxi ride and walk away with the Roman Forum just a little further on.

Flight wise, Leonardo Da Vinci Airport is about 30 kilometres away, Rome Ciampino Airport about 18 kilometres away and its around four kilometres from Rome Termini Train Station.

Valet parking is available and VIP airport transfers can be arranged on request.

With just 27 guest rooms and suites, it is difficult to choose which room to go for as all of them have a unique style and classic elegance, fitted with the most luxurious materials used throughout with sumptuous handmade fabrics, artworks, antiques and bespoke furnishings used to good effect. The JK Classic Balcony Room for example is located on the third floor and is one of the smaller rooms at 20 square metres of space yet there is a bonus – a private balcony equipped with armchairs and a table for taking the air. The bathrooms are draped in Carrara marble too with twin vanities and spacious walk-in showers and courtesy JK toiletries.

Each room has an LED flatscreen television with sports and film channels; Bose Mini link sound; individually controlled air conditioning and private electronic safes. Minibars are complimentary, breakfast is included within the rate and national and international telephone calls are free too.

The Superior Balcony Rooms offer a tad more space at 22 square metres, the Superior Double Room is again slightly larger at 26 square metres of space with the Deluxe Double Rooms sized at 32 square metres and featuring handmade fabric beds and either wooden cabinets or walk in closets. The JK Deluxe and JK Deluxe Balcony Rooms offer 40 square metres of living area and are particularly comfortable with handmade fabric beds, sleek furnishings and Dior grey walls. Leaping up in scale, the Grand Deluxe Rooms offer 42 square metres of quiet luxury and privacy facing the courtyard. These can be interconnected with other rooms to expand the space as required.

There are four categories of suite starting at the 44 square metre Junior Balcony Suite which can be connected with the Grand Deluxe Room on availability. The Master Rooms meanwhile at 46 square metres of living area offer personalised signature furniture by the architect. All have rosewood four poster beds, walk in closets, spacious full master bathrooms and comfortable seating areas. The JK Master Suites at 50 square metres of space are composed of a living room and a separate master bedroom with ensuite. There are complimentary e-bikes with these suites. The space can be enlarged by connecting with the JK Deluxe Rooms on availability. The sister JK Master Balcony Suite is similarly sized but then, it does offer a large balcony with table and chairs. There is ample room for your doggy to accompany you if you wish too.

There are two rooms equipped for disabled access.

Service & Facilities

For touring around the Eternal City, take advantage of the property’s e-bikes to power around Rome’s city streets.

For those who would like to just relax in one of Rome’s green spaces, JK Place will supply a wicker hamper full of gourmet treats with homemade breads, pies, sandwiches, cheeses, fresh fruit and deserts – customised for personal palates. All is accompanied by wine, water juices and a fresh bottle of Franciacorta Cà del Bosco Cuvée Prestige to salute the day.

The JK Concierge Team will arrange private tours of the Coliseum or the Vatican Museums as well as sourcing tickets to prestige sporting and theatrical events. They can also arrange in room massages and spa treatments, yoga classes and personal training on request.

JK Place Rome is one of the most stylish hotels in Europe, there is no doubt.

Once housing an architectural school, today’s classical building has been transformed from shabby classrooms to stunning and unique boutique hotel by master architect Michele Bonan. He has skillfully conjured up a glamorous design which encompasses elements of mid-century modern, classic forms, Massimo Listri architectural images, artworks and antiques which just shouts Italian style with just a touch of La Dolce Vita cool.

Everything, everything is of the utmost luxury – from the striped marble bathrooms with polished wooden floors, to the rosewood four poster beds, monogrammed pillows and silky satin linens. Add into the mix a location which could not be more central if it tried, wonderful staff who make it their business to cosset you in style and a restaurant which offers a surprisingly tempting and relaxed menu, then you will see how this property has a permanent place at the top of every reviewer’s wish list.

Restaurants & Bars

The sophisticated yet cosy style of JKCafe is the perfect place to enjoy a relaxed meal of Italian classics or international favourites. Market fresh seasonal ingredients ensure that every dish is created with flavour at its heart from pasta and rice dishes to fish of the day to burgers, sandwiches and salads. For business travellers on time restraints, the business lunch will include an appetiser, a first or second course and a dessert with coffee. For Sunday lunches, enjoy classical local dishes inspired by grandma’s recipe book. Chef and his team also regularly share their culinary prowess with cookery classes.

Breakfasts are included in the room rate and range from the egg white omelettes to Eggs Benedict, yoghurt and fruit to French Toast, crepes and pancakes with Maple Syrup.

At one end of the restaurant sits the JKCafe Bar for signature cocktails, afternoon tea and all-day snacks. Take some time during any stay to investigate the coffee table tomes in the property’s adjoining wood-lined library whilst enjoying a Roman Spritz or a JK Sour.

J.K. Place, Rome does its utmost to hire and train local Romans to work there whenever possible. It also supports local businesses for supplies - especially food ingredients.

Also, no small or single-use plastics are used.

The in-room amenities are an organic beauty brand that is the owner Ori’s sister and all products come from the Dead Sea.
