Significant disruptions to flights, including cancellations and delays, were reported at several airports in China's north east, on 5 November. The disruptions were the result of elevated smog levels. In the capital, Beijing, at least 494 flights were cancelled, including at Beijing Capital International Airport. Disruptions were also reported at airports in Tianjin and Shijiazhuang. Although the authorities expected haze conditions to improve overnight, further disruptions, including residual delays, are possible on 6 November.
Persons intending to use air travel in the affected areas on 6 November should contact their airline or travel provider prior to departure to check the status of their flight(s).
