SAS app:en - Hur kan den bli ännu bättre?

Thanks for the invitation.

Beside the notes I sent you on email, it would be nice with a filter option “SAS Bonus”.

When I choose to filter SAS business only, it does not help, since it shows me all the options to buy sas business smart/pro with points, but what I am looking for is sas business bonus. This results in giving me results on every day and it makes it hard to find what I look for.

I also see a need of an option to be able to book open jaw in the app.

HI Mattias, yes! You mean on flight screen view when you search for points you want a filter to let you see only the SAS BONUS (standard award) not those flight with cash converted into points, right? It makes sense and this can be done, will add to the backlog. I like it!
When it comes to OJ it's more complexity on the UX side than on tech, but it's sortable, it's already in the backlog.

Great input!

Thanks for the tip. I downloaded the new "We Are Travelers" app for Android and I'm checking it out now.

Just a few things I've noticed:

*I have a booking I've made for my wife and daughter. It doesn't show up in "My Trips" while it does show up on the legacy app and the SAS site. Since it's booked with my points this would likely be convenient to have eyes on even though my name isn't on the ticket.

*Checking the flight log first sent me to the Play Store for the app. After going back into the app and replicating this a few times the app crashed. I suspect there are many place holder buttons for now without fully integrated features.

*On the same note I like the access to most of the account features even if many are re-directs to the home page. I was missing some of these in the legacy app.As noted in the example above, some of these re-directs crashed the app.

*The "Saved travelers" function is a great convenience. It used to be that I just had all these data on my family in a sheet on my google drive and copied them over for every trip. This can be a hassle, especially when only working from the phone. If this feature is integrated with booking and especially point sharing groups it will a big plus.

*Overall I think the new app is more easily navigated and provides more relevant info on the most visited "pages". Will be following the development closely. I have a flight on Monday with SAS so will be interesting to see how it handles the whole check-in and boarding pass procedure.

Hi Jacob,
- your award booking not showing up sounds like a bug, we are checking what we are doing wrong. Will fix that!
- the crash on the flight log is due to the map library we are using in Android which makes the app crashing, we just published yesterday 0.0.13 which is today available in Play Store which fixed that issue, if you still have problems you can create a ticket from within the app under the more section > Tech Support
- the redirect to sas.xx crashing is news to us, would you mind creating a ticket from the app so we can debug?
- yes, I agree saved travelers shall be integrated within the booking, the problem is that we need to ask for DOB so we know which passenger type you are Adult, Children, Youth or Infant which is a bit intrusive to be asked within the booking flow where you want a smooth experience, but maybe we can allow you to save travelers from your existing bookings after the purchase. Will work on that. We are not there with point sharing :-(

Thanks for feedback!

I have a dream that one day I will be able to see in the app what changed when I get a notification of a change in my booking.

Look at the implementation in the Air France app!

At the moment you get notification when the boking is created, cancelled, flight delays, gate changes, bagtag accepted. We will be working on getting notifications for seat changes, schedule changes (before day of travel) and disruption (change of flights due to cancellation).
I am not able to see what Air France is doing but be free to send me details so we can learn from it. You can create a ticket from the app or send us an email travel@sas.se

HI Christoffer,
we are rebuilding the app to improve performance and add self-services to reduce cost. Hard to believe but the new app has development and operational cost lower than the current app, which has done a great job for 10 years old but now carries a lot of tech debt.
If you would like details and to learn more, you can give me a call and I can describe this in detail, send me an email and we can schedule a meeting so you can give any feedback you'd like.

The app looks promising. A couple of thoughts:

- I am hoping for a more stable friends function. It has been great to be able to follow friends on the app to see when their flights depart and land, but at times this functionality has been a bit choppy. Hoping it can be more reliable in the future.

- As mentioned by others, it would be great to have an improved ability to book bonus trips. That includes the ability to use 2-4-1 vouchers and Fly Premium, but also the ability to filter tickets to find "pure" bonus tickets.

- I am hoping that the app can include improved customer service functions, such as implementing the chat in the app.

- in the list of notifications, it would be nice to include a notification when something in my booking changes; even the seat (so that in case of airplane swap I can go in and pick a new seat)

- ability to do all booking changes within the app, such as seat selection, extra baggage, special meals

Hi,

- yes Connected Friends will be working much better, today in the current app we are not checking if the booking got cancelled or if the travelers hasn't boarded, but this will be fixed when we launch this feature in the new app, I am afraid to say it's not next in line for the coming weeks but we really want not to remove this feature

- Yes we are discussing with customer care the ability to add a chat function in the app

- Seat change notification is in the pipeline, it's a bit more complex than someone can think but we should be able to handle, it's in the backlog

- seat selection, special meals, and extra baggage is already available today in the new app from itinerary view what we call MMB (Manage My Booking)

If we're turning this thread into a wishlist, one thing that's kept annoying me - don't remove the seat map once check in is closed. The check in info turns read only at that point and that's of course fine - but let me still view my seat and those around me. Knowing the amount of free/taken seats around you is often interesting for deciding whether to board early or late...

Yes, you have a point and I agree, at the moment (in the new app) you can open the seatmap until boarding is completed so it supports already your use case, but I think we should try to let user access the seatmap even after boarding is completed and while you are airborne, the upstream backend doesn't allow this right now but maybe we can cache the last view in the client which should be good enough,

@massimo
After recieving an upgrade from Plus to Business, the seatmap still shows Plus. It is possible to select a seat, but i did not try to confirm.

That's not good! We will check this with a priority! Thanks for reporting this. Be free to use the in-app tech support function so we can follow up the bags and request for new features.

For only 6 months of development it looks really good! So far it runs really smooth, and I am sure that it'll be a promising successor to the SAS Legacy App. One thing that I'd love to see is adding "anywhere" to flight status, right now it's only possible to see one destination at a time. :)

Yes I agree, we should have this one, it's not difficult to do. Will make it happen.

/ TT

Yes, so this information comes from humans scanning the bagtag (manually) while loading them into the plane, for some stations, the messages are not sent in real-time, there could have some delays (due to different reasons), so it'a catch as it could create worries in some scenario, this is why we have whitelisted the app on onboard public wifi so this information can be checked after the plane is airborne.

That being said, note that a bag that gets scanned for loading is almost surely going to be on the plane, a bag that doesn't get scanned for loading is not certain that is not on the plane (a bag can be loaded without being scanned if the loader forgets to scan it). So despite what the data shows always go to the belt unless you see in the app the bag was loaded on a different flight.

Ah that's a significant improvement over the previous app already. I look forward to trying that function out on my next flight!
