Qatar Airways ditches Oneworld's restrictive baggage rules - Australian Business Traveller

From March 1, the Gulf airline will once again allow passengers to have checked baggage sent ahead from any Qatar Airways flight to any connecting flight on any Oneworld airline – even if those flights are booked on seperate tickets.

The only caveat will be that the time between two flights meets the airport's 'minimum connection time' or MCT – a period which is typically two hours.

Ganska intressant upplevelse på senaste resan där vi även blandade One World och Star Alliance:
Arlanda: SAS Plus till Dublin på en biljett, code share American från Dublin till London och New York - JFK. SAS hade ingen möjlighet i systemen att göra detta. Värre blir det: en American biljett med SAS till London och code share med British vidare till USA så kan SAS bara checka in väskan till London, sedan måste denna hämtas ut där för transport till Terminal 5.

Los Angeles: American Business till Dublin via Philadelphia, samt SAS Plus på ny biljett. Efter några frågor så var detta ok, dock med kommentaren "I am not supposed to do this". Väskan dök upp på Arlanda.

Separate ticket check-in requirements for oneworld multi-sector journey

Effective 1 June 2016, oneworld alliance members are not obligated to offer through check in services for passengers and their baggage to their final destination when they travel on separate tickets on separate bookings. This means that if you have chosen to purchase two or more separate tickets on separate bookings for travel with one or more oneworld carriers, you may have to check yourself and your baggage in again at the end of each sector.


Malaysia Airlines will however, continue to through check-in passengers and baggage to their final destination for travel on one or more oneworld carriers where travel begins with Malaysia Airlines, even if the sectors are ticketed separately on separate bookings. Please note that this may not be possible on your return journey if travel begins with another oneworld member airline that chooses to adhere to the new oneworld obligation.

Jeg kan bekræfte at de er dygtige og endda ivrige efter at bevise at de kan. De checker endda bagage ind videre med andre legacy carriers end OW. For nyligt checkede jeg 2 kufferter ind fra PNH til CNX (PNH-KUL-BKK-CNX) med MH på de 2 første ben og med en separat PG billet på det sidste ben.
