Nice room, but a few downsides
I booked a normal superior room and was upgraded to something called "great view'" or equivalent on the 22nd floor. The room was really really nice. The best sound system I have had in a hotel room I must say, so for a long term stay, i would value that a lot. The view was also really nice, overlooking Shanghai Railway Station and Holiday Inn Downtown. So, based on this, one would think i would return. Well, probably not, due to 2 reasons:
1. The room service was the worst I've ever had. I've never been picky when it comes to food, but here I just couldn't eat it. At first I ordered a pizza when I arrived. I was very tired after my flight, so I just wanted to eat in the comfort of my room. The pizza was so bad I ended up scratching off everything and just eating the pie crust. Later, due to jetlag I woke up in the night and I was hungry, so I ordered a Lasagna. I mean, how do you mess that up? Well, they sure did. It was really awful.
2. They had a nice coffee machine. So when I was about to make me a cup of coffee, I noticed a sign saying: We charge 20RMB per cup. Well, if you are such a cheap hotel that you can't even have complimentary coffee, well sorry, you lost me as a customer.
For those 2 reasons alone, I can't recommend this property.
