Jag har ställt följande fråga till resebyrå och Avis i USA:
Kan jag lägga till en (eller fler) extra förare under enbart specifika dagar under hyresperioden?
Resebyrån svarade nej. Under hela hyran ska det vara och förarna skall vara närvarande vid upphämtandet.
Avis hänvisar till sina villkor där det faktiskt framgår följande;
Is there an additional charge for more than one driver?
For all US states other than CA, NV and NY, the charge for additional drivers is $13 per day per additional driver, with a maximum charge of $65 per rental per driver. The additional driver fee in New York is $3 per day per additional driver. The additional driver fee in Nevada is $11 per day per additional driver, with a maximum charge of $55. There is no additional driver fee in California.
The following are exempt from additional driver charges:
renter's employer or regular fellow employee when on company business
renter's spouse or domestic partner
disabled renters who have completed the non-licensed renter form
At the time of rental an additional driver must:
be at least 25 years of age
present a valid drivers license
present an Avis-honored charge card in his/her name
complete an additional driver form
A maximum of 2 additional drivers can complete an additional driver form* for a rental. To save time, you can print out this form, complete and bring with you to the counter. Additional drivers who can drive the vehicle with the renter's permission (see Exceptions below) are not included in this requirement.
Exceptions:
If 25 or older, the renter's employer or fellow employee (while on company business) or the renter's spouse may drive the car with the renter's permission. They need not be present at the time of rental to provide credit identification or to sign an additional driver form.
An authorized driver for a disabled renter is exempt from the additional driver credit requirement.

Här finns det uppenbarligen orsak att undersöka de andra hyrbilsföretagens villkor. Eller ta en kalkylerad risk.

Hertz hänvisar till respektive uthyrningsstations villkor. Möjligen skiljer det mellan olika stater. För ORD gäller följande:

- Individuals not automatically covered on the Rental Agreement as Authorized Operators noted above may be signed on as an "Additional Authorized Operator" (AAO). AAO's must be present and may be signed on to the rental agreement at the time of rental or during the rental at any US corporate location.
- Renter and each AAO must be present to sign Rental Agreement, present an acceptable credit card or debit card (if renting city accepts debit cards) in their own name, or a current round-trip ticket (air, train or bus), show valid driver's license, and must be a minimum of 21 years of age. For those 21 through 24 the location's age differential will apply.

Villkoret för att affärspartner får köra är att ett företagskundnummer används vid bokningen. I Hertzvärlden gäller maka/partner-villkoret i vissa stater.

Authorized Operators
Acceptable Authorized Operators age 25 and older are automatically covered on the Rental Agreement.
Authorized Operators are:
- The employer, employee or fellow employee of renter on company business, (when booking includes company Corporate Discount Number).
- The renter's spouse for rentals that originate in California or or Iowa.
- Authorized Operators do not have to be present at time of rental.
- There are no fees for Authorized Operators.
