Cathay Pacific Suspends Operations From Sunday 6 Pm Passengers Are Advised To Check Latest Flight Information
21 Sep 2013
Cathay Pacific Airways today (Saturday, 21 September) announced that as Super Typhoon Usagi edges closer to the coast of Guangdong, flights departing and arriving at Hong Kong International Airport from Sunday (22 September) 18:00 (Hong Kong time) will be cancelled. We are planning to gradually resume services on Monday (23 September) when weather conditions permit.
The airline is monitoring the situation closely and will issue further advice on the resumption of flight services. It is anticipated that disruptions will continue on 23 September due to the impact of adverse weather and operational constraints.
The airline will waive re-booking fees for all tickets issued worldwide (irrespective of fare type) on or before 20 September for travel on Cathay Pacific between 22 September (Hong Kong time) and 24 September. Passengers whose flights are cancelled or without confirmed bookings are advised not to go to the airport. Cathay Pacific will assist with alternative arrangements for affected passengers.
While Cathay Pacific plans to operate its flights as scheduled on 21 September (Saturday), passengers are reminded that the situation can change rapidly and are advised to check the latest flight information on the airline’s website,
Welcome to Cathay Pacific, before departing for the airport.
To ensure customers receive the latest flight status updates via SMS or email, they are advised to update their contact details in Manage My Booking at
Welcome to Cathay Pacific.
The airline will continue to monitor the situation closely and will issue further updates once more information becomes available. The airline regrets any inconvenience this may cause and hopes for passengers’ understanding.
