The first flight was half empty. It was extremely punctual, No encounters of irregularities or imposed changes since ticket purchase. The aircraft for the first 2 legs to Nairobi was an older, well-kept dame, a Boeing 737-800. FAs and service onboard were, as usual, almost impeccable. Spacious priority seats was accommodated all three legs (Asante silver status); preordered seafood meal was tasty, plenty, and two variations of wild catch offered. That rendered a personalized experience feeling valued. Drinks, snacks and coffee were frequently and generously provided. The aircraft’s hardware cannot match that of newer aircrafts. A noisy, older narrowbody machine for a 9 hours flight can feel congested. No entertainment nor WiFi onboard. All four flights went smooth. Transfer in Nairobi is easy. Last leg to Kigali was on a small, but nice Embraer E190. Ticket prices are hefty across Africa, even for economy. We were charged 330+ USD additionally just for a single, wanted change. KQ have had poor records on timeliness on this route. However, it seems to improve. Arrived in Nairobi on time, and the following flight to Kigali was also on time with all luggage arriving in Kigali without problems. Recommend!
Air Senegal. Economy 6/10
My wife flew Banjul to Dakar 30th April 2026 on a nice, newer, wet-leased A320 plain white aircraft. Check-in easy and luggage allowance generous. 45 Minutes delayed which is better than statistics will advise you. Very few passengers onboard. No catering. Luggage arrived. The airline is quite unreliable and cannot be recommended for regional and domestic flights. However, this flight was faultless, though felt risky as communication from airline is basically not existing. Ticket price fair, 80 USD.Kenya Airways. Economy 7/10
My wife flew Dakar-Abidjan-Nairobi-Kigali 30th April 2026. Check-in counters in Dakar opened up not less than 4 hours prior to departure, allowing for a proper visit with amble time to the wonderful Top-Kapi lounge in Dakar airport. Announcements, check-in, and embarking were all perfect without any surprises. The first flight was half empty.
