Last week, United Airlines debuted its new “Polaris” Business Class cabin on board its brand new Boeing 777-300ER.
Following a media preview a few days prior. The upgraded Boeing 777-300ER has begun regular service between Newark and San Francisco.
Hoped to help the airline compete with rivals like Delta and American, United’s new Polaris cabin is primed for sleep enhancement and features a number of innovations to aid relaxation and sleep.

Suite-like pods feature updated lie-flat seats (bed length of 6ft 6’) with direct-aisle access for all, mood lighting, one-touch lumbar support, a “Do Not Disturb” sign, several storage areas, multiple surfaces for working and dining, and a 16-inch HD screen. Seats in the centre of the cabin have electronic privacy dividers.
Polaris will eventually be installed on United’s entire widebody fleet.
New aircraft with Polaris on board will begin flying between San Francisco and Hong Kong on 25th March 25 when the 777-300ER will replace United’s Boeing 747-400s that currently fly the route.
United Airlines' new “Polaris” Business Class United will also open a portfolio of United Polaris Business Class lounges in nine locations around the world, including one at Heathrow and one in Chicago which opened in December. Polaris lounges are set to feature “custom-designed chairs, private daybeds, spa-like showers, and chef-inspired hot meals served in a boutique restaurant setting”, according to the airline. Premium sparkling wines and spirits, snacks and bottled water will also be offered.
