Singapore Airlines has launched a non-stop service between Singapore and San Francisco. The new daily service will see an Airbus A350-900 deployed, with the first flight taking off on October 23, 2016. In addition, the airline is to add a second daily flight to Los Angeles.
SIA currently flies to San Francisco twice daily. One flight operates via Hong Kong and the other via Seoul. With the launch of non-stop Singapore to San Francisco services, the Singapore-Seoul-San Francisco flight will change to a Singapore-Seoul-Los Angeles service. This route change will result in Singapore Airlines’ second daily flight to Los Angeles, complementing the existing flight from Singapore via Tokyo Narita to Los Angeles. This new service to Los Angeles will also become effective from October 23, 2016. The flight time for direct flights between Singapore and San Francisco will vary between 14.35hrs to 17.45hrs depending on the direction and time of year. With a distance of 13,600km between the two cities, the route will be Singapore Airlines' longest until 2018, when a new variant of A350-900 will enter service, enabling even longer non-stop flights between Singapore and both Los Angeles and New York.
“Our customers have been asking us to offer more US services and we are pleased to be able to do so. With new non-stop San Francisco flights and the increase in frequency to Los Angeles, customers will have two flights to choose from each day to both of these popular US West Coast destinations,” said Senior Vice President Marketing Planning, Ms Lee Wen Fen. Airbus A350-900 is able to operate non-stop on Singapore to San Francisco flights year round. Depending on wind conditions, the number of available seats on board may vary. The aircraft is configured with 253 seats spread over three cabins; Business Class, Premium Economy Class and Economy Class. The aircraft takes off from Singapore in the morning, arriving in San Francisco early in the morning. Return flights from San Francisco also depart in the morning and arrive in Singapore early evening.
