The Sheraton Mirage Port Douglas - a popular beachside resort near Australia's Great Barrier Reef and Daintree Rainforest in the state of Queensland - has completed an AUD $43m (£25m) renovation encompassing all 294 guest rooms, suites and public areas, Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide have announced.

Located right on Four Mile Beach with direct beach access, the Sheraton Mirage Port Douglas' revamp includes new décor and furnishings, while the resort becomes the first Sheraton hotel in Asia Pacific to receive Starwood's keyless entry system for members of its Starwood Preferred Guest loyalty program.

The resort's indoor/outdoor balconies now feature daybeds that complement the classic interiors, allowing guests to lounge comfortably while soaking up the sun. As part of the multi-million dollar refurbishment, the resort is also introducing 41 Lagoon Edge Rooms and 12 Lagoon Edge Studio Suites on the ground floor with private balconies offering guests views of and direct access to the resort’s saltwater lagoon swimming pools.

Beyond the guest rooms, Sheraton Mirage Port Douglas also features a reinvigorated lobby experience, with a revamped porte cochére and main entrance, featuring natural tones and pockets of tropical gardens. Travellers looking to waste no time to start their vacation will appreciate the new express VIP check-in and check-out hub, which provides a seamless arrival and departure process for guests, in addition to SPG Keyless.

Guests can also enjoy a variety of enhanced dining options, from the Lobby Café which offers a fresh menu of barista coffee, light meals and snacks, to the debut of the Sheraton brand’s signature restaurant, Feast, featuring an interactive buffet and alfresco poolside dining experience on the outdoor deck with expanded seating to accommodate additional guests. Additionally, the remodelled Daintree Bar & Lounge will offer the Sheraton brand’s Paired menu, a selection of small plates expertly matched with premium wines and craft beers that marries globally inspired cuisine with local culture for a unique and unexpected dining experience.

The resort also sees the introduction of 26 cabanas surrounding the two hectares of lagoon pools. The spacious and private daybeds offer VIP service, with bar staff delivering refreshing beverages and food directly to the cabana.

Vincent Ong, Senior Director, Brand Management, Starwood Hotels & Resorts Asia Pacific, commented: “From the Tropical North Queensland inspired color palette, to the local-inspired dining choices, Sheraton Mirage Port Douglas allows guests to fully immerse themselves in the destination from the second they step foot on property.”

The resort is an hour’s drive from Cairns International Airport. Find and book the best rates for your stay at Sheraton Mirage Port Douglas
