Ritz-Carlton has unveiled its first hotel in Hungary this week with the opening of The Ritz-Carlton, Budapest.
Located on Elizabeth Square, in the heart of the city’s cultural and shopping district, the property is on the doorstep of Budapest’s heralded historic sites and minutes away from the famous Danube River.
Guest Room “It is an absolute privilege to open the first Ritz-Carlton hotel in Hungary,” said Hervé Humler, President and Chief Operations Officer, The Ritz-Carlton. “The Ritz-Carlton service standards are globally recognised and we’re delighted to bring them to a new market. Budapest is an extraordinary city and perfectly placed to welcome the newest property in our portfolio”. Housed within a listed building built in 1914, the high-end hotel offers 170 rooms and 30 suites with views over St Stephens Basilica - the third largest church Hungary.
The Danube River Although much of the building’s original architectural details have been retained, including elegant statues on the exterior walls, the interiors offer guests a “spacious and relaxed contemporary environment,” with inspiration taken from the city’s iconic river. Situated on the 8th and 9th floors of the hotel, The Ritz-Carlton Club Lounge offers guests a dedicated concierge, as well as complimentary food and beverages throughout the day.
Club Lounge The Kupola Lounge, situated beneath the building’s stained glass cupola, provides guests with a “leisurely farmer’s market breakfast” or light lunch overlooking the hotel lobby and beneath a crystal chandelier. After spending the day exploring the city’s historic cobbled streets and discovering old-fashioned cafes, guests staying at The Ritz-Carlton, Budapest, can dine at Deak Street Kitchen, which serves a variety of Hungarian-inspired dishes with local seasonal ingredients, alongside one of the city’s finest selections of indigenous Hungarian wines and beers.
Reception The hotel also houses the contemporary Kupola Barar, with a focus on innovative cocktails in a “metropolitan, sophisticated ambiance.” For those looking to rejuvenate and invigorate, The Ritz-Carlton Spa and Fitness Centre may be a great complement to the city’s many thermal springs. This urban spa, with indoor pool and three treatment rooms, offers a full range of beauty and body therapies, in addition to a 24 hour fitness centre. The property’s facilities are completed with the ballroom, situated on the lower ground floor and with seating for 180 people. It is adjacent to five meeting rooms.
Suite Livingroom “The ‘Pearl of the Danube’, Budapest is perfectly located as the European gateway to travelers whether coming for business or leisure,” continued Hervé Humler. “But not only are we looking forward to welcoming our guests and sharing our vision and service standards; we are also excited to become an integral part of the thriving, vibrant city itself”. With favourable prices, particularly when it comes to alcohol, Budapest is a rather attractive city-break destination. And now with Ritz-Cartlton joining the established Four Seasons Hotel Gresham Palace and a number of charming boutique hotels in the Hungarian capital, it could be an ideal time to sample the atmospheric city's delights.
