Qatar Airways has introduced a premium five-times weekly route connecting Doha with Chiang Mai, Thailand, elevating access to one of Southeast Asia's most enchanting destinations.
Operating with a two-class Airbus A330-200, the journey includes a seamless stop in Yangon, Myanmar. This new service underscores Chiang Mai's status as a cultural and economic hub in Northern Thailand, attracting both leisure and business travelers seeking authentic regional experiences.
Chiang Mai joins Bangkok, Phuket, and Krabi as Qatar Airways’ fourth Thai destination, reinforcing the airline’s commitment to comprehensive coverage of Thailand’s most sought-after cities. The Krabi service, which began in December, further complements the network expansion, providing travelers with curated options for exploring the country.
With the addition of Chiang Mai and Krabi, Qatar Airways now offers an impressive 48 weekly flights to Thailand, reflecting the airline’s dynamic response to the sustained surge in global demand for travel to the region.
According to Mr. Marwan Koleilat, Senior Vice President East Asia & South West Pacific at Qatar Airways: “Our continued investment in Southeast Asia, and Thailand in particular, is driven by the notable rise in passenger demand. By introducing our award-winning inflight service to emerging cities like Chiang Mai and Krabi, we are empowering international tourists and travel planners to craft bespoke Thai itineraries with greater convenience and flexibility.”
The launch of flights to Chiang Mai coincides with Qatar Airways’ ongoing global expansion strategy, which has seen the airline introduce numerous new routes in recent years, further cementing its reputation for operational excellence and connectivity. Recent network additions include Marrakech, Pisa, Windhoek, Helsinki, Sarajevo, Seychelles, Auckland, Skopje, Libreville, Douala, Lusaka, and Nice, each enhancing the carrier’s international reach and service offering.
