Make your own Spanish sparkling wine at Hotel Arts Barcelona
Fancy a Spanish adventure in winemaking? While staying at a beautiful Spanish hotel, of course?
The 5-star Hotel Arts Barcelona is currently encouraging guests to discover Catalonia’s vibrant viticulture scene by launching a new series of tours, tastings and winemaking sessions in the nearby Penedès Region, where over 95% of all cava is produced, and just an hour’s drive south of the city.
Taking advantage of the upcoming Autumn harvest season and showcasing one of Spain’s most beloved exports, “Spanish Champagne”, or cava, Hotel Arts Barcelona’s new package will enable participants to visit multiple wineries, taste the sparkling wines served at the hotel’s Enoteca restaurant, and make their own sparkling wine, which will be bottled and sent to them once fully matured.
Guests will begin their immersion into the world of sparkling Catalan wines with a trip to the Penedès region’s Mas Comtal vineyard - a 40-hectare estate at the feet of Spain’s limestone Garraf Mountains. Here guests will discover the processes underpinning organic viticulture, whilst sampling a selection of the wines served at Hotel Arts Barcelona’s famed, two Michelin-starred restaurant, Enoteca. Guests will then take part in grape collecting and subsequent pressing, before trimming and pruning the vines in preparation for the harvesting process.

Post harvest, guests will be transported back to the hotel for a special seafood menu served at the hotel’s internationally renowned restaurant, Enoteca.
Additional stops on the tour will include Cava Guilera, a leader in Enotourism initiatives; Finca Ca N’Estella, whose historical wine presses date back to 1789; and Llopart Cava vineyards, a family run working estate, since 1385.
Hotel Arts Barcelona’s Harvest Package also includes winetasting at the vineyard of Mas Comtal; six bottles of wine created on the tour, which will be bottled and sent to them once fully matured.; two nights’ stay at the hotel for one person and dinner at Enoteca paired with wine from the Penedès region.
