London Marriott Hotel County Hall unveils transformation

An iconic UK property, London Marriott Hotel County Hall is set at the foot of Westminster Bridge on London’s South Bank. From its premium position in the capital, it offers unparalleled panoramic views of London, featuring attractions such as the Houses of Parliament, Big Ben, the River Thames and the London Eye.  

The reimagined property signals the “momentum and evolution” of Marriott Hotels’ transformation, according to a press release. Features of this renovation, including contemporary room design, local influences, stylish public areas and intuitive technology, are signs of what we can expect in the future from the luxury brand.

The redesign of the historic 206-room hotel, which offers some of the most spacious rooms in the heart of London, has been overseen by RPW Design. Taking inspiration from the heritage and elegance of the building, RPW has combined modern hotel design with luxurious functionality.

Subtle references to London landmarks feature throughout - for example; comfortable orange chairs pay homage to the seating used in the chamber of the former London County Council, bowler hat prints on curtains echoe London’s business culture, and bespoke wallpaper features a historic map of London from the era of the building’s infancy.

Facilities at the exhaustive hotel include a health club with the biggest hotel pool in London, fine British dining at Gillray’s Steakhouse & Bar, the Noes Lobby Champagne bar, the Leader’s Bar & outside terrace, and afternoon tea in the Library Lounge.

There is also a new Executive Lounge for business and Marriott Rewards members, as well as 10 event and meeting rooms.

Additionally, Marriott Hotels announced last month that it will be working with TED to bring creatively curated TED Talks to its guests globally. As part of the collaboration, London Marriott County Hall this week hosted one of five global TED Fellows salons series, which saw guests engaged with thought-provoking and inspirational insight under the theme of entrepreneurship.
