Situated in the Fijian archipelago, Laucala Island - one of the world’s most exclusive private island resorts - has reopened this month following a forced closure after Tropical Cyclone Winston hit the area earlier in the year.

Set in 3,500 acres on its own 12 sq. km island, the tropical hideaway - a favourite among A-listers, with Oprah Winfrey one of its most recent guests - has been refreshed and brought back to its natural beauty over the last four months by the island team. Christoph Ganster, managing director of Laucala Island, said: “New and returning guests can expect to enjoy a pristine South Pacific environment and warm Fijian hospitality that has solidified Laucala as one of the best island retreats in the world.”

The resort’s 25 “ultra-luxurious” Fijian-style villas are set amongst coconut plantation, rainforest landscapes, next to deserted white sandy beaches and atop the island’s volcanic mountains.

The resort also sets a high value in taking a holistic approach of self-sustainability; producing much of the fresh ingredients used in its five restaurants & bars from the resorts own 250 acre organic farm. Additional features include a hill-top spa, 18-hole golf course, tennis courts, horses, 14 boats and a submarine. A wide selection of activities are also available, including diving, sailing, jet skiing, horseback riding, mountain biking and kite surfing, among others.

Mr. Ganster further commented, “Since the opening in 2008, Laucala Island has offered the ultimate in terms of privacy and exclusivity. Our private island is perhaps best known for offering a kaleidoscope of sporting and cultural activities for guests of all ages. This July we are delighted to once again welcome guests from all over the world to create beautiful moments that last for eternity."
