KLM introduce new seat and cabin design in economy class on long-haul flights

A year ago, Dutch airline KLM launched a new cabin design in business class, designed by the Dutch designer Hella Jongerius. During 2014, Jongerius has also been working on a new and refreshed cabin design for economy class, with the new seat today being introduced for the first time on long-haul flights on board a Boeing 777-200.

The new seat in Economy Class offers a little more legroom than before, as well as a new ergonomic headrest. A new in-flight entertainment system has also been installed, complete with 150 movies and 200 TV shows displayed on a 9-inch HD screen with touch screen functionality. There is also a 'seat-chat app’ that makes it possible to chat with other passengers in the cabin. The new seat is also lighter in weight, which may impact carbon dioxide emissions from the aircraft. The renovation of all KLM’s 15 Boeing 777-200’s is expected to be completed by the end of 2015.
