Heathrow wins hat-trick at the Skytrax World Airport Awards
Heathrow Airport has been recognised at this year’s Skytrax World Airport Awards with three titles.
For the second year running, Heathrow has the honour of being named as the ‘Best Airport in Western Europe’ by passengers. London’s biggest airport also won ‘Best Airport for Shopping’ and ‘World’s Best Airport Terminal’ for Terminal 5 - the fifth year in a row it has one the award. Widely regarded as the quality benchmark for the world airport industry, the Skytrax World Airport Awards assesses customer service and facilities across 388 airports worldwide. Heathrow CEO John Holland-Kaye said, “Our vision is to give passengers the best airport service in the world. I am delighted that in our busiest ever year, passengers have recognised the progress we have made with these three awards. We are here to serve.” The airport has recently invested in more security lanes, more e-gates in immigration, new lounges and hotels, and training for front line members of staff; while Terminal 5 saw the completion of a three year £40 million programme to bring a number of luxurious fashion brands to the terminal.
