London takes four of the top five places in the list of Europe’s most expensive airport trains, according to a new survey. Heathrow is in first place, followed by Stansted and Stockholm Arlanda with Europe's third most expensive airport train. The survey was conducted by Flightright.co.uk, who looked at 47 airports in Europe and compared the most expensive ticket prices, according to the airport's official website. The transport to Heathrow on the Heathrow Express will set you back £26, followed by Stansted (£23.40) and Stockholm (£22.07). In fourth and fifth place are Gatwick and Luton airports, London’s two other main airports. Unsurprisingly, when you leave the London area prices drop immediately. Of airports in the UK, Bristol, which came in fifth place, cost half as much as the next most expensive, Luton, and is nearly a quarter the price of Heathrow. The survey has received considerable attention throughout Britain with the Telegraph commenting that it is cheaper to fly to Spain than to take the train to Heathrow. The cheapest in Europe is Pisa, followed by Catania, Lanzarote, Fuerteventura and Milano Linate.
