Emirates to unveil new Business Class seat at ITB Berlin
Emirates has revealed it will unveil its new Business Class seat for its Boeing 777 aircraft at ITB Berlin, the international travel trade show which takes place from March 9-13.
The airline advised that the new seat will make its commercial debut on Emirates’ 170th Boeing 777 aircraft, a -300ER version which the airline expects to take delivery of in November. “Our current Boeing 777 Business Class seats are already an industry-leading premium product, and what this new seat does is to take that design and comfort to the next level. We gave the seat a fresh and modern look, retained all the existing features that our customers love and added a few more, while improving the seating and sleeping comfort,” said Sir Tim Clark, President, Emirates Airline. The design of Emirates’ new Business Class seat was inspired by the interior of a modern sports car but retains many of the most popular features of the current Business Class seat, the airline said in a press release. Features include a light grey full leather cover, ergonomically designed headrest, 23-inch screen, a touchscreen controller and a “sleek overall look and feel.” The fully-flat seat has a pitch of 72 inches and can be electronically reclined. Additionally, the updated seat features a “conveniently located mini-bar,” a USB port, a HDMI port, as well as improved lighting options for reading and relaxing. Emirates also redesigned the privacy panel between seats, the literature pocket, foot rest, shoe stowage area, and expanded the personal meal table. Emirates’ Boeing 777s offer 42 Business Class seats in a 2-3-2 configuration. All newly delivered Boeing 777s after the arrival of the one in November will have the new seats on-board. Emirates has 188 of the aircraft on order. “Providing our customers with the best possible experience has always been at the heart of any new product development at Emirates. It’s evolution as well as revolution. We are always working towards the next big leap, but at the same time we continually look at the little ways we can enhance what we already offer,” Clark added.
