Embraer’s revolutionary new jet concept - complete with skylights
Have you ever sat by a window on an aircraft and found yourself craning your neck to try and get a decent view of the horizon or land masses below? Well that will no longer be an issue if Embraer’s plans for its new Kyoto Airship are realised.
The Brazilian aircraft manufacturer has unveiled its revolutionary private jet concept, which features skylights and large vertical windows throughout the cabin. The concept is being proposed for a refit of its fleet of luxury Lineage 1000 private aircraft.
So although the design is not yet in production, Embraer say the designs are approved and ready to go – all they need is someone with a bit of cash to splash, as one of their revamped private jets costs around£38 million. "We've proven to ourselves that we can make this,” Jay Beever, Embraer’s president of interior design, told Business Insider. “And when a Lineage customer is ready to order this airplane, we will make it."
The concept was designed with the Japanese custom of sitting on the floor in mind. This is reflected in the use of large vertical windows with low windowsills, which offer stunning panoramic views no matter where the passenger is seated. Due to the skylights, the aircraft will also be flooded with natural light.
Both the floor and cabin walls are inlaid with a cherry blossom motif, and the dining table is outfitted with smartly-designed Japanese-style dining sets. Passengers onboard the proposed luxury jet will also be able to relax in a lounge area with white leather sofas and luxury wool carpets, widescreen TVs and Blu-ray players, WiFi, a fully fitted kitchen, and a master bedroom featuring a queen-size bed with an ensuite two-person walk-in shower.
So now all we have to do is wait for that audacious first customer with £38 million who wants to see Embraer’s vision come to fruitition. Any takers?
