Brussels Airlines is following in the footsteps of a number of major airlines by combining classes and offering a Premium Economy cabin.
From July 1st, passengers who fly to Africa, the US or Canada on board a Brussels Airlines A330 have the choice of 3 classes instead of 2 - with 20,000 lucky passengers receiving a free upgrade to Premium Economy during July and August in celebration of the launch. Economy Plus travellers will sit on the first 4 rows of the Economy Class cabin, with benefits including increased leg room and a seat that reclines 20 degrees instead of the usual 8 degrees. Additionally, a pre-meal glass of champagne, an amenity kit, a hot towel, a linen pillow and a Neuhaus chocolate giftbox are included in the new product.
Economy class passengers are able to upgrade to Economy Plus for €120 (£92) per one-way. ”We see an increasing demand for a product between Business Class and Economy Class. Our new Economy Plus offers more space, more comfort and more amenities at a very attractive price. After implementing our new commercial strategy successfully for short-haul flights, we are now starting to implement a new product generation also on our long-haul flights. More innovations are already in the pipeline,” said Lars Redeligx, Chief Commercial Officer Brussels Airlines
Brussels Airlines has also upgraded all Economy Class seats of its A330 fleet. The airline concluded that the “combination of the backrest and the headrest did not offer ideal comfort for long flights” and has now replaced the entire backrests for better support and comfort.
