British Airways’ The First Wing continues to set the benchmark for exclusive airport experiences at Heathrow Terminal 5, offering unparalleled comfort and privacy for the airline’s top-tier clientele.
Nestled adjacent to the dedicated First Class check-in, The First Wing offers an effortless transition from curbside arrival to the tranquility of BA’s most refined lounges. The thoughtfully curated pathway ensures British Airways’ most loyal and discerning guests enjoy a serene atmosphere before their departure from Heathrow.
British Airways highlights key features of The First Wing on its official site, emphasizing the unique benefits curated for its premium travelers.

1. A bespoke design
British Airways partnered with the acclaimed Universal Design Studio, based in London, to bring The First Wing’s vision to life. The design draws inspiration from the signature First Class cabin and the airline’s storied design heritage. The result is a harmonious blend of oak marquetry and a striking glass-and-mirror chandelier feature, creating an inviting, contemporary ambiance bathed in natural light.
2. An exclusive entrance
Upon arrival, premium guests are ushered into The First Wing through a distinctive steel-and-glass entrance. Here, dedicated hosts greet travelers, delivering personalized service from the very first moment and setting a refined tone for the journey ahead.
3. A dedicated security lane
The First Wing features an exclusive security channel, allowing First Class and Gold Executive Club members to bypass the main queues. This direct passage leads seamlessly to the Galleries First lounge and the renowned Concorde Room, guaranteeing an expedited and stress-free airport experience.
4. Greater privacy
To ensure discretion and tranquility, the space employs three-meter-high metallic partitions that subtly segment the area. The lighting design has been meticulously crafted to provide a gentle, welcoming glow, fostering a sense of calm and exclusivity for every guest.
5. Enhanced space
The First Wing’s check-in zone is now over two and a half times larger than its predecessor, offering a sense of openness rarely found in airport environments. Guests can unwind in the spacious seating area, appointed with custom leather banquettes, marble-topped side tables, and plush armchairs.
Yasmin Shahin, who oversees brand and design at British Airways, shares: “Our premium service team is expertly trained to anticipate and fulfill the unique needs of our most valued travelers at every touchpoint.”
Having experienced The First Wing firsthand, we can attest that it elevates the pre-flight experience to a new standard of luxury and care.
