British Airways’ first Boeing 787-9 to go to Delhi

The new 787-9s will also be fitted with BA’s new First Class cabin, meaning four classes onboard, compared to the slightly smaller 787s, which offer three classes; World Traveller (economy), World Traveller Plus (premium economy) and Club World (business class). There will be 8 seats in First Class, two rows in a 1-2-1 configuration. Flights will depart from Heathrow on Mondays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, Saturdays and Sundays, with flight number BA257. The return service, flight number BA256, will leave Delhi on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, Fridays and Sundays. The new First Class cabin has been developed for BA by London design firm Forpeople. No photos have yet been released of BA’s new First Class cabin, but we do know that the new cabin will feature additional storage, including a new ottoman, a locker for personal belongings, and a 23 inch screen.

BA regional commercial manager- South Asia, said, ”The new aircraft will have 216 seats and an exclusive first class cabin for our passengers. India is the second largest market for us after the US and the Delhi-London route becomes the first route to see the launch of Boeing 787-900 in our global network.” A well as its debut to Delhi on October 25, the 787-9 will be deployed on the airline’s double sector route from London to Abu Dhabi and Muscat, and its recently introduced route to Kuala Lumpur.
