British Airways has introduced its state-of-the-art Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner on the flagship London Heathrow to Delhi route, offering discerning travelers a new standard of luxury and innovation. The inaugural service commenced on October 25, with five weekly departures as part of BA's ongoing commitment to the Indian market.
This advanced 787-9 model is the first in the British Airways fleet to feature a newly designed First Class suite, elevating the onboard experience to four distinct cabins: World Traveller (economy), World Traveller Plus (premium economy), Club World (business class), and First Class. The First Class cabin comprises just 8 private suites in a 1-2-1 layout, ensuring personalized service and exclusivity for every guest.
Flights depart London Heathrow on Mondays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, Saturdays, and Sundays as BA257, while the return journey, BA256, leaves Delhi on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, Fridays, and Sundays. This schedule is designed to maximize convenience for both business and leisure travelers.
The First Class suite, crafted in partnership with London-based design agency Forpeople, incorporates thoughtful enhancements such as increased personal storage, a stylish ottoman, a secure locker for valuables, and a high-definition 23-inch entertainment screen. While official images of the refreshed First Class are now available, the design underscores British Airways' focus on privacy, comfort, and elegant British style.
Moran Birger,
British Airways’ Regional Commercial Manager for South Asia, commented, “With 216 seats and an exclusive First Class offering, the Boeing 787-9 demonstrates our deep investment in the Indian market—our second largest after the United States. Launching this aircraft on the Delhi-London route was a strategic decision to meet growing demand for premium and business travel.”
Following its debut on the Delhi route, the 787-9 Dreamliner has also been deployed on British Airways’ London to Abu Dhabi and Muscat sectors, as well as the popular Kuala Lumpur service, aligning with the airline’s global network expansion strategy.
