Atlantis has opened its very first resort in China – Atlantis Sanya. Located on Hainan Island, the huge ocean-themed destination includes a waterpark and two giant aquariums.
Covering around 540,000 square-metres of ground, Atlantis Sanya features 1,314 rooms, including 154 suites – five of which are underwater. Embodying the “mythical” Lost City of Atlantis and set along the Haitang Bay National Coast, Atlantis Sany opened its doors just in time for Chinese New Year.
It is the second resort from the group behind the flagship Atlantis, The Palm in Dubai, as well as The Royal Atlantis Resort & Residences in Dubai and Atlantis, KoOlina in Hawaii, both currently in development. The impressive and vast Lost Chambers Aquarium spans two floors, with a theme and atmosphere that gives guests the feeling of exploring the ancient civilization of Atlantis. The other aquarium, the Ambassador Lagoon, is the largest open-air aquarium in the world, according to a press release from Atlantis.
There is a wide variety of entertainment experiences at Atlantis Sanya, including the Aquaventure Waterpark, along with 21 restaurants (one underwater), cafes, lounges, and bars including celebrity chef Gordon Ramsay’s Bread Street Kitchen and Bar. There is also an AHAVA spa, conference centre and multi-function ballrooms designed for events.
