Cathay Pacific will introduce a new dining concept for its long-haul business class passengers over the next year. The new concept will afford passengers greater control over the number of courses at part of their onboard meals. Unveiled at a media briefing in Toulouse ahead of the delivery flight of its first Airbus A350-1000 aircraft, the concept will see passengers served plated meals from an a la carte menu with plenty of options – up to three choices of appetiser and up to six main courses. But you can also opt to have fewer courses should you wish, or order smaller “supper plates”. The upgraded menu will feature lighter and healthier options, according to the airlines, although sample menus have not yet been decided. Roast lamb rack with mint sauce, rice in a lobster soup, noodle dishes, and

barbecued pork. are all meal choices that are under consideration. Additionally, breakfast on board Cathay Pacific business class will also change. The airline is cutting its current breakfast offering and will instead introduce a new “room service” style concept. This will involve the distribution of room service style breakfast on which passengers tick their choice. They will have the option of a full meal or an “express” option consisting of bread, pastries and coffee. The new concepts are designed to save time on board, as well as money no doubt. “We listened to our customers and what they were telling us was they wanted four different things from business class dining: better quality food, more interaction with our crew, a better personalization programme, and more control over how they want to eat their food,” Cathay Pacific says in a pressrelease.
