Heathrow Airport launches renewable biofuel breakfast!

Heathrow, the United Kingdom’s flagship international airport, has unveiled a pioneering initiative at Terminal 2: a classic English breakfast crafted from locally sourced ingredients and prepared using cooking oil that is repurposed into renewable biofuel.

Developed in partnership with the world-renowned, Michelin-starred chef Heston Blumenthal, The Fly Up breakfast is now served exclusively at The Perfectionists' Café. This culinary offering not only delivers gourmet flavors but also champions eco-conscious travel.

Priced at £15.95, this elevated breakfast sets out to engage travelers with the concept of Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF), a crucial component in the aviation industry’s journey to reaching net zero emissions by 2050.

Although SAF currently costs more to produce than conventional aviation fuel, Heathrow’s dedicated incentive program narrows the price gap by up to 50%, further encouraging widespread adoption across airlines.

Highlighting progress in sustainable aviation, Virgin Atlantic made history with the world’s first commercial transatlantic flight powered entirely by SAF, taking off from Heathrow to New York. This milestone underscores the airport’s commitment to pioneering green solutions in global travel.
