12 Best Business Class Lounges in the World

You have arrived at your airport. Your Chauffeur has waved you farewell. You enter the terminal - head for the Business Class check-in desks, do the necessary, then are fast-tracked through security (and maybe customs & immigration). You have some time to kill and Duty Free shopping is a unnecessary distraction.

What to do? Ah, yes! The Business Class Lounge.  This is one of the many perks of flying Business Class - the airline's exclusive airport lounge before departure.

Lounges come in all shapes & sizes and offer a baseline provision of comfortable seating away from the main terminal, a buffet-style dining option, somewhere to work with USB/charging facilities and provide quieter, more private lavatory/showering facilities. The best Business Class airlines take the pre-departure lounge service to new heights and provide guests with an elevated experience of the highest quality. Notable features may include à la carte menus created by Michelin-starred chefs, Spa facilities, saunas, private sleeping rooms, and even Champagne bars.

Airline are refurbishing, renovating and building new, Business Class lounges every month. In the past few days, Emirates, Aer Lingus, JetBlue, Qantas and London CIty Airport have all announced enhancements to their respective lounges - all to make your premium travel experience better!

There are plenty of different options for guests travelling alone or in groups.

The lounge opens daily between 6.30 am and 11 pm, and passengers on eligible connecting domestic flights will be driven to the arrival gate in an electric or plug-in hybrid Porsche.

Larger groups are accommodated upon request, and a completely private dining room is reserved for groups of VIPs or meeting guests and can also be used on a first-come-first-served basis.

Qantas - International London Lounge

Qantas - International London Lounge, Heathrow Airport, London

The national flag carrier of Australia has sophisticated lounges at many of its destinations. However, the Qantas International Lounge in London's Heathrow airport deserves mention due to the lack of a dedicated First Class lounge at the airport – meaning this lounge is an elevated Business Class lounge with a dual purpose to satisfy the needs of First Class travellers. It is also widely accessible – more on that later.

Located in Lounge B, Terminal 3, the International London Lounge opens between 8 am and 9 pm daily. The lounge has a capacity for around 230 seated guests spread over two floors, with a bar and table-service restaurant on the downstairs floor, a self-serve hot and cold buffet, a cocktail bar, and other amenities upstairs.

The lounge design is a modern interpretation of a private members club with furnishings, fixtures and fittings designed to embody London at twilight using stone, brass and walnut, blending British and Australian styles. Service is impeccable and friendly.

Seating downstairs is set around the dining area and bar, with tabled seating, bar stools and additional lounge seating.

The restaurant's à la carte menu is inspired by celebrity chef Neil Perry who has collaborated with Qantas for the last 25 years. The menu has been specially created for healthier long-haul travelling. Favourite dishes include Qantas signature salt and pepper squid.

The nearby Gin Bar contains an impressive selection of unusual gins such as Green Ant Gin and the famous Australian Four Pillar Gin.

Upstairs, guests are greeted by an impressive circular marble cocktail bar set beneath a large brass chandelier with extensive views of the runways. Mixologists serve creative cocktails, quality wines from Europe and Australia, Champagne, spirits and beers. Here you will also find barista-made coffee and soft drinks.

Seating is relaxed with large orange sofas, deep armchairs, bar seats and plenty of places to relax. A buffet station provides delicious hot and cold breakfasts, light bites, snacks, pastries, yoghurts and more.
