Turkish Airlines - fresh from its inaugural flight between Istanbul and Melbourne aims to start a service to Australia's most populous city - Sydney - by the end of the year.
With the launch of its first flight last week - 1st March - Turkish Airlines has introduced three weekly flights to Melbourne, Victoria's state capital. The airline will connect Istanbul to Melbourne, Australia's largest city, via a stop at Singapore Changi International Airport, from its primary base in Istanbul. The route is serviced by Turkish Airlines' state-of-the-art fleet, which boasts 450 aircraft.
By transporting thousands of passengers yearly on the Istanbul-Melbourne route, the airline aims to significantly boost the trade and tourism sectors of both nations. Professor Ahmet Bolat, the Chairman of the Board and Executive Committee of Turkish Airlines has stated that the airline is aiming to fly four flights a week to Sydney by the end of the year. Again, until Turkish takes delivery of its ordered Airbus A350-1000s, the airline will use Singapore as its Asia stopover city.
Turkish Airlines in a member of Star Alliance - whose members include Air Canada, Air India, Air New Zealand, ANA, Lufthansa, Singapore Airlines, South African Airways, Thai Airways, and United Airlines. The newly launched gateway enhances Turkish Airlines' continuously growing network of flights, which currently encompasses 346 destinations spread over six continents.
