TAP Air Portugal opens non-Schengen Lisbon Airport lounge

In a move to enhance the pre-flight experience for long-haul travelers, TAP Air Portugal has introduced its latest premium lounge at Lisbon Airport, specifically designed for those departing on non-Schengen international routes. Open daily from 5 a.m. until midnight, the TAP Premium Lounge Atlântico welcomes eligible TAP and Star Alliance guests to an elevated environment reflecting Portugal’s vibrant culture. Spanning 380 square meters, the space comfortably hosts up to 100 guests, offering an exclusive retreat ahead of intercontinental journeys.

Conveniently located just past passport control in Humberto Delgado Airport’s non-Schengen area, the lounge was conceptualized by Alma Design to evoke a sense of place. The interiors blend authentic Portuguese materials—such as natural cork, burel wool, and decorative tiles reminiscent of traditional Lisbon facades—creating a refined yet welcoming atmosphere. TAP’s ongoing sustainability initiatives are evident throughout, with a focus on locally sourced, eco-conscious furnishings and finishes.

This newly opened lounge underscores TAP’s drive to deliver premium hospitality, particularly for travelers bound for the Americas, Africa, and the United Kingdom. The facility is part of the airline’s broader strategy to compete with Europe’s leading carriers in the premium segment, following recent Skytrax accolades for its business class product.

Guests will discover thoughtfully zoned areas for productivity and relaxation, as well as a dedicated dining zone featuring an all-day buffet inspired by classic Portuguese flavors. Signature offerings include artisanal cheeses, regional pastries, and a curated selection of wines from Portugal’s renowned vineyards.

Further elevating the guest experience, TAP has partnered with Lisbon’s acclaimed Underdogs art platform to showcase dynamic temporary exhibitions by contemporary Portuguese artists. For the next six months, the lounge will feature works by Raquel Belli and Pedrita Studio, whose urban-inspired pieces reinterpret time-honored Portuguese motifs through a modern lens.
