SAS plans 5000 weekly flights next summer

Scandinavian Airlines — SAS — has announced plans to add 20 new Mediterranean destinations to its summer 2023 flight itinerary, making over 5,000 weekly departures to over 100 destinations.

As the demand for flights increases, the carrier’s overall capacity to the Mediterranean is sure to exceed pre-pandemic levels. The new program includes more than 200 routes, with passenger numbers expected to rise on major domestic, Scandinavian and international routes.

Spain will see additional flights to its most popular destinations from the Scandinavian capitals of Copenhagen, Oslo and Stockholm. At the same time, Croatia will have a fourth new destination of Zadar added with flights from Copenhagen.

Italy will enjoy a significant capacity expansion, with additional flights to existing popular destinations of Milan, Bologna and Rome. Copenhagen will service Milan three times daily, twice daily from Stockholm and daily flights from Oslo. Copenhagen will also add more flights to Florence, Catania and Palermo, Sicily.

New services from Oslo to Catania, Florence and Venice, along with new flights from Bergen to Milan, will take Italy’s service up to 156 weekly flights.

Norway will see nine additional European routes and one domestic route next summer, including Oslo to Antalya, Larnaca and Stuttgart. Bergin will add Nice to its destinations. Domestically, SAS will provide new routes from Haugesund to Trondheim and Haugesund to Copenhagen and increase capacity between Ålesund and Copenhagen.

SAS will offer seven new routes from Copenhagen with services to Haugesund, Porto, Larnaca, Antalya, Newquay and Zadar — to add its New York JFK service, reported by BusinessClass.com recently.

Stockholm will see four new routes to Antalya, Ibiza, Montpellier and Vaasa. Domestic connections will strengthen between Sweden and Denmark with additional flights between Aalborg and Copenhagen and Aarhus and Copenhagen.

Sweden will also enjoy improved internal connections between Stockholm, Luleå, Gothenburg, and Umeå.

SAS serves nine intercontinental destinations, including Boston, Chicago, Los Angeles, New York -Newark and JFK, San Francisco, Washington DC, Toronto and Shanghai, with over 170 flights.
