Ryan Reynolds-backed Aviation American Gin to debut on British Airways flights

The Hollywood actor and the self-styled “world’s favourite airline” teamed up last year to launch the highly successful Aviation Gin Bar at BA’s New York JFK’s Terminal 7 lounge. Now the partnership has been extended and the spirit will be served on the airline’s long and short-haul services.

It will be debut on the flag-carriers much anticipated London Heathrow to Portland, Oregon route which takes-off on 3rd June. Aviation Gin was created in Portland and Ryan Reynolds became a stakeholder and its brand ambassador in 2018. The company was sold to drinks giant Diageo for USD610 million but the Canadian actor - Reynolds - has "retained a small stake".

BA passengers will enjoy the gin for free on long-haul flights but will have to pay GBP6 if purchased from the Speedbird Café on short-haul routes.

According to the tasting notes, Aviation Gin “is infused with a democratic blend of botanicals – cardamom, coriander, French lavender, anise seed, sarsaparilla, juniper, and two kinds of orange peel to create a smoother, softer, more refined take on gin.”

Reynolds – star of the Deadpool films - has also produced a spoof inflight safety video – “rejected by BA” which is hilarious but has nothing to do with safety! He says he has played a pilot – twice – giving him authority to produce such a video!

BA’s London Heathrow to Portland service will operate five times a week. The Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner aircraft will be used – seating 214 passengers including 35 in Club World and 25 in World Traveller Plus.
