This festive season, Finnair—proudly recognized as Santa’s official airline—invites families worldwide to participate in a state-of-the-art virtual journey to the enchanting city of Rovaniemi, Finland.
Travel trends in 2025 continue to evolve, and Finnair is at the forefront with its innovative virtual Santa flights, offering guests the chance to celebrate Christmas in a truly unique way. The airline’s digital experience brings the magic of Lapland directly to your home, blending tradition with cutting-edge technology.
Since 1983, Finnair has held the distinction of being «Santa’s official airline», annually transporting Santa Claus from his homeland to destinations around the globe, delighting countless children and adults alike with festive cheer.
Historically, Finnair has partnered with the Santa Claus Foundation to facilitate charitable journeys and bring travelers to Rovaniemi—widely regarded as Santa’s hometown in the heart of Arctic Finland.
In response to new travel preferences and the growing demand for safe, accessible experiences, Finnair’s virtual flights now provide an exclusive opportunity to meet Santa Claus in a secure, interactive online setting.
Throughout December, Finnair curates eight immersive virtual flights to Rovaniemi, designed for families and young children. The experience is modeled after the airline’s acclaimed Business Class on the Airbus A350, complete with digital cabin crew, gourmet refreshments, and the ambiance of the aurora borealis illuminating the virtual sky.
During the journey, expect delightful surprises—including special appearances from beloved holiday characters. Upon ‘arrival’ in snowy Rovaniemi, guests are invited to explore Santa’s workshop and enjoy a personal virtual meeting with Santa himself.
Tickets are priced at €10 per participant, with all proceeds benefitting UNICEF’s ongoing initiatives for children impacted by global challenges. This initiative reflects Finnair’s commitment to social responsibility and community support.
The event is broadcast as a live interactive stream. Participants receive an exclusive access link and code upon booking, along with 250 Finnair Plus points per ticket. Gifting options are available, making it an ideal present for loved ones. The experience is conducted in English and follows the EET time zone (UTC +2).
