Malaysia Airlines - A330neo Melbourne debut + new Suites

Malaysia Airlines has selected Melbourne as the inaugural destination for its state-of-the-art Airbus A330neo aircraft, marking a significant milestone in its fleet modernization strategy.

The carrier’s new A330neo jets feature an exclusive 297-seat layout, including 28 Business Class seats equipped with the innovative Collins Elevation suite. Malaysia Airlines is the first airline globally to offer this premium suite on the A330neo, a product previously reserved for flagship widebody aircraft such as the Airbus A350 and Boeing 777.

Each Collins Elevation suite provides enhanced privacy through fully closing doors and direct aisle access, setting a new benchmark over the airline’s previous staggered Business Class configuration.

In 2025, Malaysia Airlines is set to receive three A330neo aircraft, part of a broader commitment for 20 jets to further elevate its long-haul product.

The airline is also accelerating its regional growth, with new routes launching from Kuala Lumpur to Chiang Mai (Thailand), Da Nang (Vietnam), and Malé (Maldives), operated by its modern Boeing 737 fleet.

Daily flights to Malé commence 1 August, five weekly flights to Chiang Mai begin 15 August, and daily service to Da Nang starts 24 September, providing increased connectivity across Asia.

With the addition of Malé, Malaysia Airlines’ South Asian presence expands to 13 destinations, while new services to Chiang Mai and Da Nang boost its ASEAN network to 16 cities.
