Held annually in Munich, Oktoberfest is one of the world's most attended public festivals - attracting over 6 million visitors per year.
Featuring a massive carnival, delicious German cuisine (!) and copious amounts of beer (over 8 million litres), Oktoberfest is a must-see, must-do event for any sybaritic traveller.
The German airline Lufthansa has announced new routes & schedules for the English market to coincide with Oktoberfest.
There were be 11 special flights between London Stansted and Munich (Thursday to Sunday) between 15th September and 1st October:
- LH2494 departs Munich at 1805, arriving into Stansted at 1905
- LH2495 departs Stansted at 1955, arriving into Munich at 2245
Also, the carrier has launched two new routes from London Heathrow - to Friedrichshafen in Germany and Salzburg in Austria for skiiers (and for the latter, lovers of classical music).
Flights will operate between 16th December and 30th March:
Heathrow-Salzburg (Saturdays and Sundays)
- Departs Heathrow at 1110, arriving into Salzburg at 1320
- Departs Salzburg at 1455, arriving into Heathrow at 1705
Heathrow – Friedrichshafen (Saturdays)
- Departs Heathrow at 1350, arriving into Friedrichshafen at 1540
- Departs Friedrichshafen at 1740, arriving into Heathrow at 1935
